The Mile High Centennials is a SKILLS-FIRST and year-round Basketball Academy that offers player evaluations, drop-in fundamentals clinics and camps, private basketball coaching, and performance training throughout the greater Denver metropolitan area. We also offer competitive basketball teams because we fully understand that youths ultimately want to COMPETE.
Open TRYOUTS are held a few times each year, typically as follows:
Open TRYOUTS are held a few times each year, typically as follows:
- Spring season = Mid-February to mid-March
- Summer season = late May
- Fall season = August
- Winter season = Early November
During an evaluation or group tryouts, the Centennials coaching staff will gauge various aspects of a player's game, including ball handling & dribbling, passing, shooting consistency and accuracy, fitness and conditioning, hoops IQ, and will inquire about grades in school (we encourage academic excellence). A family's commitment level will also be assessed. After the required basketball fundamentals, IQ and family commitment level are met, players may then be invited to play on a Centennials competitive team based on availability, age or grade, and ability.
"I want to thank you for all you've done. I've seen such a positive change in my son's attitude, behavior and focus at home." –2016 spring season parent of 8th grader
Centennials boys basketball teams compete in leagues and tournaments throughout the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area, with some travel during the summer months for the more skilled teams. All SERIOUS basketball players looking to join a competitive Centennials basketball team must first REGISTER to be evaluated. We're an ACADEMY, so ALL skill levels are welcome, not just the "elite" like most other clubs.
"Our son and we appreciate everything you have done so far for him and the team and feel that you are the best most inspirational coach he has had to date. THANK YOU for all the life lessons that you teach the boys along with basketball." – 2015 fall season parent
What if I don't make a team?
If you attend an open player evaluations session (TRYOUT) or were evaluated one-on-one, and are not invited to join a competitive boys basketball team for any season, please do not get discouraged. You or your student/athlete may not be ready for the high level of competition that Centennials teams face. The Mile High Centennials is a SKILLS-FIRST Academy, and we will do all that we can to create opportunities for youth basketball players that are serious about training to become better players and young people. The Academy hosts basketball clinics year-round on a drop-in basis. We also offer private basketball coaching and performance training sessions for individual or small groups. Progress comes with hard work, focus and dedication in the gym. Games merely test a player's skill and IQ. We've had many players take advantage of our basketball player development services to improve their game that are now on competitive teams, many of which have gone on to make their high school team.
